Sancia Pinto is a practicing Lawyer, Adjudicator and the Founder of Pinto Law. Sancia is a certified Mediator and received extensive training in negotiation and mediation at The Harvard Negotiation Institute at Harvard Law School. Sancia is currently an Adjudicator with the Province for Tribunals Ontario where she conducts case conferences/mediations and hearings. Sancia also sits as a Hearings Officer for the Administrative Penalty Tribunal for the City of Toronto where she conducts quasi-judicial hearings dealing with traffic, parking and licensing violations. Sancia was previously a Superior Court of Ontario Hearings Officer with the Ministry of the Attorney General, Court Services Division, where she conducted mediations and quasi-judicial hearings.
Prior to launching Pinto Law, Sancia worked at a boutique litigation law firm in downtown Toronto where she practiced exclusively representing Clients in the area of personal injury and disability litigation. Sancia has handled a varied array of cases from catastrophic injuries to fatality cases. Sancia is devoted and has vigorously advocated for Clients in the areas of Disability Insurance Law and other insurance related claims (including motor vehicle accident claims, slip and falls claims and product liability claims).
Sancia tenaciously represents clients in the areas of employment law and human rights. She represents both employees and employers on a wide variety of matters, including: wrongful dismissals, drafting employment contracts, accommodation issues, conducting workplace investigations, constructive dismissals and discrimination matters.
Sancia has successfully conducted mediations, pre-hearings and arbitration proceedings at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) and the License Appeal Tribunal (LAT). Sancia has appeared on behalf of clients in Small Claims Court, Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice matters.
Sancia has previously worked with the Ministry of the Attorney General, Office of the Children’s Lawyer (OCL) representing children eighteen and under in the area of child protection, custody and access, estates and personal injury matters. At the OCL, Sancia was involved with several Divisional Court and Court of Appeal matters. Sancia also actively assisted in the publication of a paper on behalf of the Children’s Lawyer titled, “Variation and Termination of Trusts”.
Sancia is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, Canadian Bar Associations, South Asian Bar Association and a mentor for law students in the Women’s Legal Mentorship Program. Sancia has also been a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario. In addition to her academic and legal pursuits, Sancia devotes her spare time to, monitoring real estate trends, travelling and spending time with her family.
